| THE
ABUNDA LIFE HEALING & TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY |
There
is no such thing as censure anymore. Television
and radio talk shows now freely and openly discuss
sex, pornography, homosexuality, profanity,
and even the most sordid perversions - anything
goes! Boundaries and limitations no longer seem
to exist.
Surprisingly there remains one subject that
is still a taboo. This subject has not yet been
featured on any of our television freak shows,
or written up in any of our national scandal
sheets. Your closest friend won't talk about
it. Stand up comedian won't joke about it. Most
families won't discuss it even in the privacy
of their own homes. Most people won't even bring
the subject up to their family doctor.
Because this subject really should be discussed
openly and freely, it may well go down in history
as the most mindless taboo that ever existed
in our country.
Last year tens of thousands of Americans died
needlessly because of this taboo and millions
have been hospitalized. If this subject was
openly discussed, instead of foolishly tabooed,
we would be a lot healthier as individuals and
as a nation.
I want to introduce you to this taboo because
it's one of the most important organs in your
body. It is your primary organ of elimination.
When it is working efficiently all other organs
are able to work efficiently.
The name of this organ is the "colon." In naturopathic
medicine we believe both health and disease,
life and death, all begin in the colon.
Because colon health and bowel management is
such a taboo in America, ignorance rules this
subject. Last year 250,000 Americans had their
filthy, rotten, diseased colons surgically removed.
These people will walk around with a dirty,
stinking, messy bag tied to their side for the
rest of their lives.
At the age of 115, Dr. Norman Walker said, "There
is no such condition as extreme when it comes
to preventing the surgical amputation (colostomy)
of one's colon."
This book is written with the purpose of putting
this mindless taboo to rest and to help prevent
constipation and other conditions of the bowel
that eventually lead to rectal/colon cancer
and the preventable tragedy of a colostomy.
BUT
DOCTOR, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!
A
few years ago I had an actress come to me who
lives in New York City. She had gained over
25 pounds in less than a month. She was having
a problem with her producer because her body
changed during her latest movie production.
She told me that she hadn't had a bowel movement
in three weeks. I asked her if she told this
to her primary care physician and she said that
her doctor told her, "This is perfectly normal.
There is nothing wrong with your bowel, and
you are perfectly healthy as this is your normal
cycle."
Her laboratory tests confirmed what appeared
obvious, her colon was backed up like a Chinese
fire drum. This condition was due to faulty
eating habits, junk food, devitalized food,
fast food, lack of distilled water, lack of
fiber, lack of enzymes, lack of minerals, lack
of vitamins, and tremendous stress working as
an actress.
Our age prides itself on its openness. Subjects
that used to be discussed only in private have
become part of the public
We put her on a series of colonics., one a day
for three days. Then one a week for twelve weeks.
This was followed by a maintenance program of
one colonic treatment a month. We put her on
a diet and natural food supplement program based
on her individual biochemistry.
She lost 29 pounds, and her physical and mental
energy increased dramatically. She completed
her assignment and has since gone on to a successful
career. She has three bowel movements a day
and has never gained as much as a pound of weight
back.
At the time I felt like calling this woman's
doctor and asking him, "What cycle are you referring
to doctor?." But since that time I've had hundreds
of patients tell me similar stories. Last week
a concerned mother of an eleven year old boy
came in after $5000 in cat scans, upper G.I.
tests, lower G.I. tests, x-rays, sigmoidoscopies,
colonoscopies, drug medicines, and specialists.
The boy was in constant abdominal pain. He couldn't
go to school for three months. The doctors said,
"We can't find anything wrong with him." He
didn't have a bowel movement for three months.
A few colonic treatments later the boy was back
in school.
It seems that we have been inflicted with a
generation of medical doctor who are suffering
from bowel ignorance. This ignorance has trickled
down into all segments of our society. Most
grandmothers of two short generations ago were
more bowel conscious and made more common sense
than most of today's physicians.
Grandmother knew that the bowel was the key
to most illnesses. If the bowel is blocked no
system of the body can be expected to function
optimally. When the body is sick the bowel is
the safest and surest place to start. Grandmother
instinctively knew this.
Today's physicians treat the colon as if it
was not an integral part of the body. Our doctors
have become so specialized that they have forgotten
that our Creator made the body as a whole entity,
not a mixture of independent parts.
The mainstream medical profession for the last
fifty years has treated the colon as if it were
an old cesspool disconnected from the human
body located in the backyard. This was not always
the case. Up until about 1950 osteopaths were
naturopathic doctors and most medical doctors
had at least some training in naturopathic principles.
Back then many family doctors administered colon
hydrotherapy treatments right in their offices.
Today we would be hard pressed to find one doctor
in twenty that could give a satisfactory explanation
of what colon hydrotherapy is and its medical
benefits.
Back then doctors weren't so quick to give shots
and write prescriptions. They stood fast to
their oath of Hippocrates, "Do the patient no
harm." They understood that all drugs are toxic
and carry with them the potential for long term
harm.
Doctors then looked to the bowel first, if something
was bothering the patient. Drugs were usually
last. If a patient came in with a stomach ache
they would administer a good colonic. If the
patient had a headache they would start with
a colonic. The same would apply if they had
PMS symptoms, backache, knee ache, skin condition,
bloating, indigestion, gas, constipation, colitis,
cold, cough, sore throat, sinus problems, nervousness,
fatigue, confusion, hypoglycemia, and many other
everyday symptoms. The medical doctor of the
past started with a good cleaning out. The colon
was the starting point.
Why did doctors do this? Because with the great
majority of patients that usually was all that
was necessary. The symptoms disappeared or were
greatly relieved with the reduction of stress
due to toxicity.
Both doctors and grandmothers understood that
a faulty colon, just like a faulty cesspool
when it gets backed up, can affect the entire
house. A backed up colon can affect every gland,
organ, system, nerve, and cell of your body.
Every body part
is dependent on proper and efficient irrigation
of its waste by-product. The colon is responsible
for eliminating the largest volume of waste
in the entire body. It only makes sense if the
colon is not functioning properly that no other
organ of the body can function properly.
Today's doctors are trained so well in drug
medicine that they have forgotten the bowel.
Physicians used to be the ones who gave "physics."
They have forsaken their moorings. No longer
do doctors relate the colon to any other system
of the body. They see no connection between
the colon and the whole.
The fact remains, the health of every system
of the body is directly related to the colon.
The colon should be the first organ of the body
that is addressed in any healing program. Unfortunately
most doctors don't talk to their patients about
their colons until it's time to cut their colons
out.

LOSS OF TIME
FROM WORK
THAN ANY OTHER CAUSE |
The
colon is the direct and indirect cause of more
disability and loss of time from work than any
other cause. Your intestinal tract begins at
your lips and ends at your anus. When the colon
is not functioning properly, the entire intestinal
tract is affected.
Hiatal hernias, peptic ulcers, gastric ulcers,
gastritis, stomach cancer, hepatitis, Chrohn's
disease, gallstones, tumors, hemorrhoids, appendicitis,
colitis, diverticulitis, pancreatitis, gastritis,
gastric ulcer, pancreas cancer, diarrhea, and
constipation are some of the many diseases directly
related to the colon. Digestive disorders associated
with the colon comprise one sixth of all hospital
admissions. Over 50% of all cancer originate
from a toxic colon. There is no condition that
can disassociate itself from the colon. The
healthier the colon the healthier all other
organs of the body will be.
Many naturopathic doctors believe that death
begins in the colon. The colon is considered
the sewage system of the body. A lifetime of
eating junk food and fast foods, inactivity,
mineral depletion, enzyme deficiency, insufficient
water drinking, coffee consumption, alcohol
consumption, taking laxatives, overstuffing,
and other abuses and neglect can cause this
perfect sewage system to back up. Everything
else then will back up and soon one discovers
that he has a named disease or several diseases.
Many degenerative types of diseases can result
from a clogged colon. On his 115th birthday
Doctor Norman Walker gave us some advice on
how to prevent disease. "Trust God, avoid junk
foods, eat natural raw foods, exercise, and
keep your colon clean."
At age 50 Dr. Norman Walker was told to get
his affairs in order because he had three months
to live. Dr. Walker went on a juice fast, changed
his lifestyle, and began taking colonics. He
took a colonic a week for sixty five years.
He out lived all his medical doctors. At age
one hundred and fifteen he wrote a book
named "Health Is In The Colon." He lived in
Arizona until he was almost one hundred and
twenty years of age. He attributed his health,
energy, and longevity to colonics and a healthy
lifestyle.

HYDROTHERAPY CORRECTS SLUGGISHNESS
OF THE LIVER, GALL BLADDER, PANCREAS,
AND SPLEEN |

|
The
liver is the main filtration organ of the body.
The hepatic (liver) portal vein drains the gastrointestinal
tract, gall bladder, pancreas, and spleen.
The liver is a powerful organ designed to detoxify
any poisons present and remove then from the
system. The problem arises when toxins are present
in too great a quantity to adequately be handled
by the liver. Phenol, indican, skatol escape
the liver's detoxifying action and back up into
the lymph and circulatory systems affecting
every organ, gland, and system of your body.
Most lymph, gall bladder, pancreas, and spleen
problems can be traced to an inefficient colon.
When an unusual burden is placed on the liver,
as with any other organ of the body, a breakdown
occurs that affects the body as a whole. When
the liver is overwhelmed this type of breakdown
results in an increased absorption of toxic
substances. Should this condition remain uncorrected
the body slowly begins to poison itself. In
naturopathic medicine we call this condition
autointoxication.
The orthodox medical profession doesn't recognize
such a condition as autointoxication. They prefer
to use 26,000 names for 26,000 different medical
conditions that all result from autointoxication.
With the typical American junk food, devitalized
food, processed food, foodless food diet, overmedication,
overeating, and stress the majority of Americans
suffer from some degree of autointoxication.
Colon hydrotherapy (colonics) is the only therapeutic
measure that effectively addresses the source
of the problem. All other measures, fiber, laxatives,
naturopathic detoxification, enemas, acidophilus,
raw juices, and dietary change are all important
and must be included in a total bowel management
program, but do not get down at the cause of
the problem. Orthodox medical measures only
treat symptoms and provide only temporary relief
of bowel related problems at best.
In colon stasis, the putrefactive toxins may
saturate tissue fluids causing structural and
functional changes as a result. When the secondary
detoxification powers of the liver and kidneys
are overwhelmed by an impacted bowel, the lymph
and other tissue fluids become even more saturated,
resulting in a lowering of the body's resistance
and overall immune response.
Colon hydrotherapy cleanses and dilutes the
toxic load in the colon resulting in a reduced
burden on the liver, pancreas, gall bladder,
and spleen. As a result of lowering the body's
total levels of toxicity, all other eliminative
organs of the body experience a rejuvenating
effect. This detoxifying effect allows the immunological
system to restore internal balance. Bio-energy
required to neutralize toxins becomes freed
up and redirects to the healing and restoration
process. The end result is improved health,
energy, and vitality is experienced by the individual.
All this as a result of cleaning the colon!
The
lymphatic system is the body's front line defense
system against foreign invaders. Like a sponge
it absorbs fluid toxins and potentially harmful
bacteria and removes them from the body.
Lymph nodes, like terminal stations, are distributed
throughout the body Most people don't think
too much about their lymph system until the
lymph nodes in the neck, breast, groin, and
arm pits swell up or the doctor says that you
have lymphoma, Hodgkins, or some other disease
of the lymph system.
What few orthodox drug, radiation, and surgery
doctors even talk about is the relationship
between the lymphatic system and the colon.
What seems so easily forgotten in our world
of wonder drugs, special procedures, and cut,
cut, cut , drug, drug, drug society is that
both the colon and the lymphatic systems serve
as elimination organs.
Why do you think the lymph receptor points swell
up? It is because your body is overwhelmed with
garbage! The lymph nodes are telling you that
you are loaded to the hilt. So loaded that your
body is backed up to the point that it is dumping
into receptor sites.
Now where do you think this garbage is coming
from? Is it because you lack radiation? Is your
body deficient in some drug? Did your Creator
make a mistake that requires that your lymph
nodes be cut out?
The garbage is coming from your colon and liver,
it's are backing up, the lymph is doing its
job, it's absorbing toxins like a sponge, but
even the best sponge in the world can only sop
up so much.
We hear a lot today in the alternative health
field about lymphatic drainage, lymphatic massage,
herbs for the lymphatic system, and rebound
exercise for moving the lymph. We believe and
employ all these modalities in our naturopathic
medical practice as an adjutant to colon hydrotherapy,
but not a substitute.
The fastest way to drain the lymph is to clean
your colon. A dirty colon will find its way
into the lymphatic system. When the lymphatic
system is backed up the colon is really backed
up. Lymphatic congestion is a sign of toxicity.
Colonics are the best preventive medicine known
for maintaining a healthy lymph system.
Much of our bloating, puffiness, red streaks
on the surface of the skin, ankle, leg and arm
swelling, sudden weight gain, and fluid retention
is a toxic condition being neutralized and absorbed
by the lymph system. When the bowel is not working
efficiently and in a timely fashion, the lymphatic
system is forced to work overtime.
Hormones, enzymes, and other essential nutrients
are transported through the lymph. When the
lymphatic system becomes congested due to a
toxic overload from the bowel, hormones, enzymes,
and other systems are also affected. It is for
that reason we believe in naturopathic medicine
that health and disease, life and death, all
begin in the colon.

A
SHORT HISTORY OF COLON HYDROTHERAPY |
Colon
hydrotherapy or colonics. Colon Lavage was first
recorded 1500 B.C. in the ancient Egyptian document,
Ebers Papyrus, which dealt with the practice
of medicine.
Unfortunately most medical schools have forgotten
their own history and have long forsaken the
natural treatments that have withstood the test
of time. If it's not drugs, drugs, and more
drugs, it's not modern day medicine according
to orthodoxy. However, thinking people are causing
the tide to change.
Hippocrates, the father of modern day medicine,
in the fourth century B.C., recorded using colonics
for correcting fevers and hundreds of other
medical conditions. Colon hydrotherapy was taught
in all the ancient Greek medical schools. How
silly it is for medical doctors not to understand
their own history. Galen in the second century
A.D. was a proponent of colonics for just about
every known medical condition of that day. Pare,
in 1600 A.D., offered the first medical distinction
between colon hydrotherapy and enemas. A subject
that most modern day medical doctors would have
difficulty explaining.
Colon therapy since the turn of the century
has experienced periods of popularity alternating
with periods of reaction. At times everyone
was doing colonics and at other times few people
were doing them.
The factors that contributed mainly to this
ambivalence primarily was due to the administration
of colon hydrotherapy by untrained, unskilled,
nonprofessionals. At one time anyone with a
hose was doing colonics. This was very detrimental
to its professional growth as a viable therapy,
because it couldn't be recommended by most medical
doctors because they did not control the process.
This changed about 1910 when the therapy gained
the attention of such physicians as James A.
Wiltsie M.D., and Joseph E.G. Waddington M.D..
A great value was placed on the therapeutic
benefits of this modality.
The philosophy attributed to colon hydrotherapy
by tens of thousands of medical doctors of this
era was depicted by Dr. Waddington: "Abnormal
functioning of the intestinal canal is the precursor
of much ill health, especially of chronic disease
conditions. Restoration of physiologic intestinal
elimination is often the first, but too often
ignored, important preliminary to eventual restoration
of health in general."
Dr. Wilsie contended that: "Our knowledge of
the normal and abnormal physiology of the colon,
and of its pathology and management has not
kept pace with that of many organs and systems
of the body. As long as we continue to assume
that the colon will take care of itself, just
that long will we remain in complete ignorance
of perhaps the most important source of ill
health in the whole body."
Oh,
if only our medical profession of today have
remembered what was taught by their profession
in the medical schools of 1910. How much healthier
our nation would be today. It seems that in
our smugness we threw the baby out with the
bath water. In Short: 3500 years of accumulative
knowledge of naturopathic medicine was wisped
away by one generation of so called medical
science. How silly... How stupid... How dumb...
How foolish...!
Even the Bible has something to say about this
form of foolishness. "God has deliberately chosen
to use ideas the world considers foolish and
of little worth in order to shame those people
considered by the world as wise and great. He
has chosen a plan despised by the world, counted
as nothing at all and used it to bring down
to nothing those the world considered great"
(1 Corinthians 1:27 L.B.).
Through misconception, misunderstanding, and
preconceived emotionalism, on the part of those
who control our medical profession, controversy
over colon hydrotherapy has continued to prevail.
History has proven that there is an incredible
value to this modality or it would have been
conclusively withdrawn from the medical market
place like blood letting leeches, and quicksilver
were. Intelligent people seek out colon hydrotherapy
services because it makes a lot of sense. It
helps hundreds of different conditions. It reduces
toxicity and they feel better from the treatment.
With the modern technological advancement of
manufacturers like Toxegen, Doltola Research,
and others, colon hydrotherapy instrumentation
has been made so safe that it is fair to state
that it is "idiot proof." Even safer than a
home enema and almost impossible to do harm.
Sanitation is also now guaranteed with disposable
hose, speculums, gloves, and sheets. Cross bacteria
contamination is impossible with the modern
equipment because it is designed with two separate
lines. One brings the fresh filtered water in
and the other line takes the waste product to
the sewer. Everything has been thought through
in advance.
Although osteopathic and medical schools do
not teach colon hydrotherapy, chiropractic and
naturopathic school still teach it. The education
and skills learned in these two semester courses
by naturopathic doctors is then transferred
to the therapists administering the colon hydrotherapy.
In New Jersey colon hydrotherapy is considered
a medical procedure and can only be performed
legally under medical supervision of a licensed
medical doctor.
Because medical schools do not teach colon hydrotherapy,
few medical doctors believe in them. This has
created an illegal underground marketplace for
colonics. In New Jersey most colonics are performed
illegally in the underground.
This fact has created an even bigger dilemma.
How can the mainstream ever accept a modality
performed in the underground?
People would like to get reimbursed by their
insurance carrier for colonics. Some doctors
may even see the need to recommend this service,
but how can they make such a referral?
The underground administration of colonics created
another problem. How can we ever get the scientific
research necessary to have this therapy accepted?
How does the State Board of Health regulate
or supervise the underground? Suppose someone
in the underground couldn't afford the proper
equipment and decided to make their own machine
like the so called "Woods system?" Or for the
sake of saving $15 on each treatment, decided
not to invest in disposable hoses, speculums,
gloves, and sheets? Or maybe they decided to
read a book on how to administer a colonic or
take a weekend "Woods course in colonics," rather
than being trained by a doctor of naturopathic
medicine who went to school for five years?
Also just suppose an underground therapist didn't
know the counter indications for colon hydrotherapy
and gave the treatment to a person they should
not have? Can you see the problems? This has
been an uphill battle that colon hydrotherapy
has had over the last one hundred years. This
therapy that goes back as far as the ancient
Egyptians is still relatively unknown and misunderstood
as we enter the twenty first century.
